I’m not sure whether to blame Irish spelling on Irish drinking or Irish drinking on Irish spelling.

  1. Hey, Lovecraft needed something upon which to draw inspiration! *Somehow I doubt this to be an accurate cause of Gaelic spelling, however it is still a fun little thought.*

  2. And then there’s Welsh, where you sometimes wonder if someone didn’t just roll their face across a keyboard, stick it on a sign, and wait to see if anyone noticed.

    • Yeah, there are some Welsh place names that just have to be somebody’s practical joke that’s gone on way too long.
