The Venn diagram of “People who think the Greeks and Romans were the pinnacle of Western civilization” and “People who think anything not heteronormative is the collapse of Western civilization” is interesting to contemplate.
Look, if you don’t want to have to think about weird gender issues, maybe classic English literature isn’t for you.

I may not personally like terms like “herstory” and “shero,” but I acknowledge that they exist for a good reason, which is more than anyone can say about the “men’s rights” herd.
Then there’s the Bechdel Turing test, where you read two different characters’ lines without knowing the gender of the characters, and if you can’t tell which one is female, it passes.
(For anyone not in the know: Schrödinger’s cat and the Bechdel test. Which, incidentally, would be an awesome name for a band.)
